Early Saturday morning... i mean like 5.30 early i was forced to get up to get ready to head off to Tolmie for the weekend. We were going up there for the Tolmie sports day and because Allies boyfriends parents own the local pub up there. The trip to Tolmie takes about 2 and a bit hours and believe me its a boring drive, at least i think it was, considering i slept a most of the drive i really cant be too sure. Mum was a little worried about Allie and i heading up there because of the bushfires. Tolmie was under no threat from the fires, but we did have to travel through a couple of towns that have been on evacuation alert. We travelled along the highway and drove through where the fire had jumped the road.... everything was black. By the time we made it to Yea the smoke was really thick. The photo below was taken just past Yea, It was so smokey that the sun looked more like a street light.

I have never been to Tolmie before and was a little surprised when we got there and Allie said "So this is Tolmie" my jaw dropped... down the main street was a general store no bigger then my living room and a pub! I guess i should have realised just how small the town would be when allie told me that i would have no mobile phone reception.... EXCUSE ME??? How was i going to survive?

We headed off to the sports ground to have a look around, All the roads except the main street were dirt ones. Ha ha, i really was in the bush. Now you see i have been a city slicker all my life so this was a little new for me. Don't get me wrong i love to go camping and have a good time, however i also like to paint my nails, i straighten my hair just about everyday and most of the time i don't leave the house without at least mascara on! So for these lovely country people i was a prime target for them to hang shit on! lol!

We walked around the sports ground for a little while and sat down to watch the wood chopping, oh how i was impressed!! Not only did this guy chop the freakin crap out of this log, but damn he was hot!!! i think i spent most of the day drooling over him.

We ran into so people Allie knew so in between chatting i found a plaster fun house... as if i could walk past and not paint something!! It took me about 10 minutes to pick my lovely little turtle and about 2 minutes to decided painting was not as fun as i remembered.

They also had this thing called "Bash the rat" i so wanted to have a go but everyone doing it was 10 and under. I i thought i better save myself the embarrassment and not have a go.
This guy rolled a potato down a hole on a box and when the potato comes out the bottom you have to go nuts and smash the crap out of that damn potato with a plastic pipe. Looked like so much fun!!!

We found a table under an umbrella so we sat there to get out of the sun for a little while. We were minding our own business when a lady decided she was hot and started to take her jumper off.. the next thing i know her t-shirt almost comes off with her jumper and her BOOBS that's right BOOBS are out and about for everyone to see!!! She quickly pulled down her t-shirt and said and i quote "You win some you lose some" AH YEAH I KNOW WHAT YOU LOST...... YOUR BRA!!!! Firstly why wasn't she wearing a bra and secondly why wasn't she embarrassed?

We hung around to watch Matt in the three man race. The race consists of 3 parts, wood chopping, running and the horse riding.
First up The wood chopper has to chop as fast as he can through his log, then when he is through he must tag the runner The runner then runs over and collects his 27kg bad of chaff, picks it up, and runs 100m with it. He then throws it over the back of a small truck, jumps over the truck, picks up the bag and then runs and tags the horseman. The horseman then rides down through the creek, then back up over all the jumps, picks up a flag, jumps a couple more jumps then cross the finish line. ( i hope that makes sense) Matty and his team won it which was pretty damn cool of you ask me.

Once the three man race finished we headed off to the pub. I had the greatest time, everyone was so friendly. The locals are awesome and by about midnight everyone was somewhat drunk... all except Allie and I that is.
After the pub we went off to the dance (yep they had a dance going on) to see if Rhys and Ryan needed a lift home.... I'm so glad that we did because i have never laughed so hard in all my life. I stood at the door laughing as everyone did these lame barn dances. It was hysterical! Even more so because most of the guys were drunk and could barely stand up properly let alone dance.
It must have been about 12.30am before we decided to leave and head home where we all got comfy and settled in to watch American Pie. No matter how many times you watch that movie it just never stops being funny!
Ryan was the first to pike it then about an hour later it was Allies turn. Rhys and i decided to have a competition, the first to fall asleep was a loser. It was probably about 3am before i decided i just couldn't stay awake anymore, (i mean i had been up for a while) so i headed off to bed... i actually thought i had won till i started walking up the stairs and Rhys calls out from the couch "eat shit loser" DAMN IT!!!! i tried so hard!
We were up again at about 9 this morning ready for the drive home which wasn't too bad.... i mean i slept most of it again anyway.
I had a great weekend and enjoyed everybit of it i just can't believe that i have to go to work tomorrow and do it all over again!!
I can honestly say i cant wait for the next time i head off to Tolmie!!
