I am so sick at the moment... i possibly have the plague. Okay so yes i might be exaggerating but hey I'm a wog and that's what we do!
Last Thursday i started to feel a little under the weather and by Friday that was it, i was dying.i have a headache that no matter what i take just wont go away, my nose is so full of snot its just not funny, its as if i have a never ending supply. I Blow it and think ahh relief then .2 seconds later its full again. My eyes keep watering but they take it in turns, earlier it was my right eye and now its my left. I guess they are doing me a favour, i mean they could both be watering at the same time.... that would really suck! My cough sounds a little like a barking dog and holy crap does my throat hurt to cough not to mention how much it hurts my head.
My entire body aches all i want to do is sleep and i have had a fever.... sounds inviting huh!
At first i thought it was hayfever, runny nose water eyes all over shit feeling but as the weekend went on i realised it wasn't. I decided to bite the bullet and make an appointment at the doctors. Swine flu is going around at the moment so everyone is being extra careful not to catch it. I usually don't like going to the doctors mainly because when they hear the last name Milani they automatically think hypochondriac.... my Nonna goes to the doctors all the time and usually when i see the Dr. he says oh i saw your Nonna the other day.... (what my Nonna? you must be kidding!) Not to mention that my younger sister Catherine has single handedly kept him in business with the amount of times she has been to see him over the past 3 months.... yep I'm talking you need fingers and toes to count how many times she has been. So i turn on the dying child routine and suckered my dad into calling, they asked him what my symptoms were and he rattled them off they told him i would have to go to the back door of the clinic and call the front desk so they could let me in....ummm what the?
So i get there for my 9.30 appointment call the front desk and the really nice desk clerk tells me she will be there in one minute to let me in.
So here i am standing out in the freezing cold at the back door of the doctors waiting. (for the record she was a whole lot longer then just a minute)
She opens the door wearing a face mask and hands one to me which i then put on while she leads me into a room with no one in it, no magazines, nothing, nudda.... just me and my mask.
If this wasn't awkward enough as i walked in all the patients in the real waiting room (the one with posters and magazines and toys for the kids to play with) who could see me watched, i felt so diseased!
After about 10 minutes of solitary confinement the Dr. comes in wearing a mask leads me to his room and sits me down the opposite end of the room to him..... seriously guys way to make someone feel uncomfortable!
After going through my symptoms he tells me he thinks its safe to take our masks off.... awesome... thanks! I walk out without my mask down the hallway to the front desk where all the other patients who watched me mask up on arrival and get hurried through the back entrance are still sitting i can feel there eyes burning holes into the back of my head. One old man even shakes his head at me when i look at him. I Have just been in and seen a doctor... if it wasn't safe i highly doubt they would've let me take off my mask and walk through all you common folk.... silly old man! So i sign the form pay my money and get ready to leave. As i walk past the nasty head shaking old man who hasn't taken his eyes off me i cough a little in his direction (hand over my mouth of course) the look on his face was brilliant! Totally worth it!
i have the next 2 -3 days off work and i have been given some antibiotics that i have to take. I just hope that i will start feeling better soon!
how much more can i possibly sleep?
